LOOKING FOR A GOOD HOME! I’ve been looking after a 2 year Black Lab\Pit for a woman that can no longer keep him. He is a complete sweetie and very devoted but I am moving and can no longer keep him either. If anyone in the Denver area is interested in adopting him permanently, please reply. We have two cats and a 12- year old and everyone gets along. He is completely house trained and way past the chewing phase although he will look for a sock or shoe to snitch now and again. When that happens, it really means, “play with me!”

I am looking to get a lab pit mix. I have a 4 year old norwegian elkhound mix now his name is drake. Just looking for some insight how do these breeds do with other dogs. The puppy im looking at is a male also do you think that the having two males with this breed would be a problem or do they get along with other dogs well. Any insight would be appreciated thank you.

Hi, Know what you are saying. My guy Freddie is the most adorable, licking saint on earth. His only vice is barking at our squiresels!!! Bend down he will lick you from head to tow! His sister Samantha another shelter care rescue at birth…..loves him so! He, known by all our neighbors now is known as “Freddie go home” as they drive by on their Golf Carts. I Love Freddie and Samantha!!!!!!!!!!!

We adopted our pitt/lab mix when she was 8wks old from the humane society. She is now almost 8mos. Her name is Maci. What a joy she has brought to our family. I have 2 kids, 9 & 11, and 2 cats, both almost 2ys. We keep her in a kennel when we are gone and at night to help with the potty training. My kids forgot to put her in her kennel and when we woke up in the morn there wasnt even an accident. Shes our first dog and best dog EVER. She is great with everyone…cats…dogs…people…you name it! Although she is very protective if she feels we are threatened. I will never get any other type of dog…WE LOVE YOU MACI!!!!

We have a blonde lab/pit mix who is a great dog! We adopted him at 7 weeks old, he’s now 2 1/2. Very smart dog, but a slow processor….thinks about his commands for a few seconds, then happily obliges. Rough-houser, for sure, and our alpha female (a rat-terrier/boxer mix) keeps him in line. Glad to read here about other vocal pit mixes…mine talks all the time, sits by the bed and growls to wake me up, it’s hilarious. He is good, however he’s had LOTS of training because he would like to be in charge of everything, and we still put his training leash on and run through his commands for about 10 minutes several times each week. Very loyal and loving, a special dog.

Our lab/pit rescue pup could climb any fence–she was a ninja.

The only way to handle it was to extend the height of the fence–three different times. Now it is too high even for her. But we take her out often, so she can run and hang out with us.

Hi, I have a wonderful lab/pit mixed, he is two years old, i got him 2 weeks ago, wow, the best damn dog i could ever want, he is such a friendly, loyal dog, love my Jude so much, i do feel sad he had to be given up, but thanks to the people who had him, great work, now my gained, I have gained a great loyal, friendly dog. I have a lab/ pit mix rescue that I guess is about 6-7 months old. I have a large yard for him but for some reason, he goes on the sidewalk. We love this guy but I keep saying that I’ll love him so much more when his brain develops.

We have a Black Lab pit mix..
rescued him at 3 months from a kill shelter.. He was a little shy of people at first and i dont blame him . He is beautiful and spoilt.
He was very easy to train, is protective to some degree( will warn of strangers on our property . but is really a huge love bug.
i REALLy RECOMMEND THIS COMBONATION OF dOG

Hi: Your dog is a bit young to understand the whole potty training process as yet. The ASPCA has very helpful articles on all kinds of training issues (including potty training and biting). Go to their website, I think you will find it very helpful.

please help my dog is blk lab/pitt 10 wks i or should i saywe got him when he was 9 wks old his name is max he is the most hansame dog in the world i am a very proud mother. max does not understand you must go to the bathroom outside i can have him outside and then bring him in and he will pee on the floor please help me keep my floors dry he also likes to bite

I know that this is a very old comment, but I have the exact same fence problem with my 3 year old black lab/pitbull mix! He was born to our black lab/rottie, and since the first day he’s been a trouble maker; before he could jump the fence he literally climbed right over it by hooking his paws in the links and wriggling over. His name is Uno (he was first born in the litter, I thought it was cute) and he loves to run off! Sometimes he’ll be gone for days, and he’s cost us several SPCA bills, even after getting fixed.

The good thing is, he’s virtually impossible to catch. The dog catcher shot him with a tranq once (he wasn’t hurting anyone, he just stole a lady’s picnic lunch…oops lol), and still Uno ran across a major highway with the dart in his butt, and no one could catch him. The dog catcher (our neighbor) came to our house and waited on Uno to come home before taking the dart out. The few times he’s been caught was because our other dog snuck off with him, and the dog catcher can catch her easily, so he grabs her and waits for Uno to double back to find her.

Anyway, I was wondering if you’d learned any tips for keeping those little demons in the yard? I’m going off to college in the fall, and my dad doesn’t want to keep Uno unless we can find a way to keep him in the yard. I don’t want him to give away my baby.
